Hayrenaser visited the family of fallen hero RUBEN ISKANDARYAN and delivered our donors’ gratitude and $500 in donations.

 Ruben’s father insisted that he greets us outside. He had a reason. Ruben’s grandmother had not been told about the martyrdom of her brave grandchild. The family was hiding it from her. The parents had even hung the big portrait of Ruben in their bedroom so the grandma would not see it. Since Ruben’s mother is a teacher, the visiting Hayrenaser representative was introduced to the grandmother as a student of Ruben’s mother. During the visit the parents told us that Ruben had been a student in the Slavonic University. While in the army, he had never forewarned the family during his visits. He liked to surprise them. Once he even had gone straight to the university in his military uniform. Ruben loved the military life. He used to say that a sergeant never went without work, “hands in pockets,” that he must be vigilant. He had written to his family that on April 5th or 6th he had a surprise for them. The parents had thought that he would be visiting again. But…
